Gibraltar
Background
expekt was founded in 1999 and holds a sports betting license in
Gibraltar. They employ over 150 people and have around 1.8 million
registered customers. They offer the full gaming experience with
bingo, games, poker, live and standard casinos and of course the
sports book. The site is available in 23 languages with a focus on
Scandinavia, reflecting their Swedish origins.
In 2009 they were bought by the French group Mangas Gaming for a
reported 125m EUR and now fall under the BetClic Everest Group
alongside BetClic, Bet-at-home and Everest Poker.
expekt Odds and Markets
expekt do not offer the widest range of markets and at the time
of writing had 2232 available. Of those, more than half were on
football (soccer) which shows the main focus of the company.
They cover plenty of different leagues, although the range of
markets on each match is not as good as you will find elsewhere,
with no player markets (for example, first goalscorer) available.
As you would expect there are similarities with their partner
companies, namely the absence of horseracing, the focus on football
and the decent coverage of Scandinavian/Eastern European sports.
Ice hockey especially is well covered, with over a quarter of all
markets offered on the sport.
The bookmaker seems to have tightened up their odds and where a
few years ago they were marginally above average, on the whole they
seem slightly below par now. We checked several markets in
different sports and it was very rare to find them with the best
odds and they appear to run a very cautious book.
expekt Bonus Offers and Free Bets
At present they offer a sign-up bonus of 50% up to a maximum of
50 GBP. The deposit must be wagered once at minimum odds of 2.00
(evens) before the bonus is added and then the bonus has to bet
through four times at the same minimum before a withdrawal is
permitted. You have 60 days to complete the wagering. In addition
they usually run a monthly competition with various sporting or
cash prizes on offer.
They also offer bonuses for casino and poker fans, with 200 EUR
and 2000 USD on offer respectively, which are reasonably
generous.
In-Play and Mobile Betting
The in-play betting has its own separate area, accessible from
the home page. This is increasingly the norm and avoids confusion
about whether an event has started or not. They cover a decent
range of sports including football, ice hockey, handball and tennis
with a fair array of markets on each event. The console itself is
neat enough and overall the speed, stats on offer and simplicity
make it better than some rivals.
Sadly, the same cannot be said about mobile betting. There is no
app available and therefore no dedicated mobile bonus. Customer
services did say this was something that would be coming soon so
watch this space!
Customer Service
Telephone: N/a
Email: support@expekt.com
Address: Suite 7.3.1, Europort, Europort Road, Gibraltar
Other contact methods: Live chat, online form
Customer service is an area that expect could and should
definitely improve. Whilst they offer a decent FAQ section and live
chat in five languages that is answered immediately by helpful and
friendly staff, they have some major problems. First, there is no
option to phone them. Second, there is no support between midnight
and 8am (UK time). We like the fact that you can email your live
chat transcript but in this day and age the lack of 24/7 customer
service is a big, and surprising, negative.
Conclusion
Overall expekt is a bookmaker that is possibly worth joining but
would come with certain warnings. If you want a bookie for the
horses or dogs this is clearly not the one for you. Nor do they
offer much in the way of traditional "UK" sports, football
aside.
However, as a pan-European bookmaker they are a solid enough
choice with excellent coverage of most European football leagues,
often down to the second or third tiers in several countries.
At present the free bet offer is another plus, with a maximum
bonus of 50 GBP (57 EUR) and reasonable wagering requirements.
However, this often changes so check when you sign up.
The website is perfectly functional with a nice clean feel and
good stats, scores and results sections. In summary, expekt are not
complete rubbish, but improved odds, markets and customer service
hours would make them a good deal better.
