PREMIER LEAGUE ACCA - SATURDAY DECEMBER 15
Match 1: Manchester City (2) v Everton (7) – 12:30 ko
Last Five: (L W W W W) v (D D L W D)
Manchester City must bounce back after their unbeaten run was ended by Chelsea last time out. The defeat saw the champions surrender top spot to Liverpool. With Jurgen Klopp’s men playing on Sunday, City will want to win and transfer the pressure back to Liverpool ahead on their own blockbuster tie with Manchester United. Everton will be no pushovers - they are unbeaten on their last three visits to the Etihad Stadium - but the champions can come out on top to kick start our acca.
Prediction: Manchester City @ 1/5 (888sport)
Match 2: Tottenham (3) v Burnley (17) – 15:00 ko
Last Five: (W W L W W) v (W L L L D)
Tottenham look a a shoo-in to beat Burnley and stay third, within striking distance of Manchester City and Liverpool. Mauricio Pochettino’s men will be on a high after sealing qualification to the Champions League Round of 16 in dramatic fashion in midweek.
Burnley, after securing a first win in nine attempts last time out, would have preferred lesser opponents next in their bid to build on that win. But they will do well to even get a point from this fixture.
Prediction: Tottenham @ 1/6 (888)
Match 3: Huddersfield (18) v Newcastle United (15) – 15:00 ko
Last Five: (L L L W D) v (L D L W W)
It's early days, but no doubt both sides will be treating this as a relegation six-pointer given their lowly positions in the table.
Huddersfield, who occupy 18th spot, are on a three-match losing streak, while Newcastle are three points and three places better off. In truth, there is not much between them but the visitors might just have enough about them to edge it.
Prediction: Newcastle @ 41/20 (888)
Match 4: Wolves (10) v Bournemouth (8) – 15:00
Last Five: (W W L L D) v (L W L L L)
This a meeting between two sides who have won plaudits for their fearless and attacking brands of football. Bournemouth have lost four of their last five matches, but it's important to look beyond the surface of that wretched sequence of results. The fixture schedule has been unkind to the Cherries, who played and lost back-to-back fixtures against Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City. They then beat Huddersfield before losing to Liverpool last Saturday.
Wolves followed up their giant-killing win over Chelsea with victory at Newcastle United last Sunday. They are tempting at the odds but are not always easy to predict and the smart money is on the draw.
Prediction: Draw @ 49/20 (888)
Match 5: Crystal Palace (16) v Leicester City (9) – 15:00 ko
Last Five: (L L W D L) v (L D W D D)
Crystal Palace are a bit nondescript and difficult to assess. Last month they went to Old Trafford and came away with a creditable draw only to lose 3-1 at Brighton a couple of weeks later. That's been typical of their season.
Before last Saturday's 2-0 defeat by Tottenham, Leicester City were on a seven-match unbeaten run. The Foxes have added consistency to their game and have the advantage of a settled squad, so we're taking them to come away with a share of the spoils.
Prediction: Draw @ 21/10 (888sport)
Match 6: Watford (12) v Cardiff City (14) – 15:00 ko
Last Five: (D L L L D) v (W L W L W)
Watford will feel that their efforts in Monday night’s clash at Everton merited all three points. Instead, they came away with one after conceding deep into injury time. After winning their opening four matches of the season the Hornets have gone off the boil somewhat, with their last five matches yielding a paltry two points.
Cardiff are finally starting to look like a team determined to avoid a relegation scrap. Nine points from a possible last 15 on offer points to steady improvement, especially for a side who could only manage five points from their opening 10 games. But their good run looks set to end here.
Prediction: Watford @ 8/13 (888sport)
